Field Officer (Public Health)

Helium Health is a full-service healthtech company that provides a suite of solutions for healthcare providers, payers, patients, and partners in emerging markets — at the core of which is our SaaS-based electronic medical records/hospital management information system (EMR/HMIS).

We are looking to hire Field Officers who will be responsible for overseeing field activities, ensuring that project objectives are met on the ground, and acting as the primary liaison between the project team and local communities. The Field Officer will play a key role in ensuring that projects are executed efficiently, addressing local challenges, and fostering strong relationships with stakeholders at the community and health levels.


Responsibilities: 

Project Implementation

  • Oversee the roll-out and implementation of the digital technology project in designated areas, ensuring that all activities align with project goals and timelines.

  • Facilitate the deployment of the mobile application and USSD platform, ensuring that users understand and can access the tools effectively.

  • Organize and conduct community sensitization sessions to raise awareness about the project and the benefits of using the digital tools.


User Support and Training

  • Provide on-the-ground support to users, including training on how to use the mobile app and USSD platform.

  • Address user concerns, troubleshoot technical issues, and provide real-time assistance to ensure smooth operation of the digital tools.

  • Gather feedback from users to identify common challenges and work with the technical team to implement solutions.


Community Engagement

  • Act as the primary liaison between the project team and the community, ensuring clear communication and fostering trust.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, local organizations, and other stakeholders to encourage participation and support for the project.

  • Engage with community members to understand their needs and preferences regarding digital technology and incorporate their feedback into project activities.


Monitoring and Reporting

  • Provide regular updates to the project management team on field activities, user feedback, and any challenges encountered.

  • Assist in the preparation of detailed field reports, including analysis of data collected and recommendations for improvement.


Logistical Support

  • Coordinate logistics for field activities, including the distribution of materials, organizing training sessions, and managing schedules for field visits.

  • Ensure the efficient use of resources and maintain accurate records of materials distributed and activities conducted.


Quality Assurance

  • Ensure that all project activities, including training sessions and app deployment, meet the organization’s quality standards.

  • Identify and address any issues that may affect the quality or success of the project, working proactively with the project team to find solutions.


Compliance and Safety

  • Ensure that all field activities comply with organizational policies, local regulations, and data privacy standards.



Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, Nursing, Community Health, Social Sciences, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in fieldwork, community engagement, training and implementing projects that involve digital technology

  • Strong technical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot issues and provide user support.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse communities.

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to changing circumstances.

  • Knowledge of data privacy standards and best practices.

  • Fluency in English and proficiency in local languages is an advantage.

  • Resident in the specific LGAs in Delta and Bayelsa States
